Basic Cardiac Rhythms

This course will prepare you to take EKG/Pharm and then finally ACLS.

At the completion of this course the learner will be able to:

  • Be aware of telemetry protocols
  • Have some familiarity the Philips Monitoring system
  • Describe the normal cardiac anatomy, physiology, and electrical conduction through the heart
  • Identify and relate waveforms to the cardiac cycle
  • Understand the different lead placement
  • Utlize a systematic process for telemetry rhythm interpretation
  • Identify a normal and abnormal components of telemetry rhythms 
  • Discuss the importance of monitoring QT prolognation
  • Understnad some basic pacemaker and ICD functions and malfunctions

  • Recognize the following rhythms: 
    • sinus  rhythms
    • atrial dysrhythmias
    • ventricular dysrhythmias
    • heart blocks
    • junctional dysrhythmias
